A special evening featuring a screening of the award-winning film “A Passage to India” with an introduction and Q&A by Nigel Havers.
“A Passage to India” is a 1984 epic historical drama film written, directed, and edited by David Lean. The film stars Peggy Ashcroft, Judy Davis, Nigel Havers, James Fox, Alec Guinness, and Victor Bannerjee. The screenplay is based on E.M. Forster’s 1924 novel of the same name and an adaptation of Santa Rama Rau’s 1960 play.

Our audience love The Dixie Mix Jazz Band, one of the UK’s most engaging and successful jazz-dixieland ensembles. The feedback after their concerts is always amazing: “A wonderful night’s music and entertainment that we are reliving again and again…”. “ A very successful evening’s entertainment, it brought back many happy memories…”.
The band is a professional six piece, excelling with fresh arrangements of many jazz favourites. With the best jazz musicians in East Anglia and great humour, the DixieMix has gained national recognition, leading to a tour with Rod Stewart, TV appearances and multiple festival and theatre gigs. This year the DixieMix will be performing a new programme From Blues to Swing at St Nicks Art Centre in Swafield.

Watch that enchanting quest for love and wisdom at St-Nicks Art Centre, screening from the Royal Opera. Mozart’s fantastical opera glitters in David McVicar’s enchanting production, conducted by French conductor Marie Jacquot in her Covent Garden debut, and Finnegan Downie Dear. François Pineau-Benois (violin), Adam Szokolay (piano) – Sat 9th May at St.Botolph’s, Trunch
The Pineau-Benois – Szokolay Duet, winners of the grand prix at the 2019 Pro Music International Competition (Paris), is highly regarded by the public in France, Hungary and other countries: the musicians are qualified as “young virtuosos” by the Figaroscope, complimented for the expressiveness of their playing by the Journal Francophone de Budapest.
Their concerts at the Salle Cortot, at the Francophone Festival in Budapest, in London, in Trunch – all ended with a standing ovation from the audience.

National Open Garden Scheme: Swafield Hall – Sat 13th, Sun 14th June
Swafield Hall is a 16th century Manor House with Georgian additions (not open), set within 4 acres of gardens including a parterre (designed by Martin Perry).
Walk along the Apollo promenade of theatrical serpentine hedging towards the statue of Apollo Belvedere and you will reach the stunning Summer garden containing 8 flower beds filled with beautiful plants, herbs and flowers. The Victorian brick wall protects the gardens from the north wind and you can find Apricot, Peach, Pear, Nectarine and sour cherry trees.
The impressive Pear Tunnel leads to the little garden pavilion surrounded by jasmine. The Secret Oriental Garden contains nine flower beds taken from the pattern of a Persian carpet.
Food and Refreshments – in aid of St Nicks Art Centre.

These are just some of the audience reactions to the performances of this outstanding group of international artists. Their journey started in 2016, when violinist Yuri Kalnits and cellist Julia Morneweg, both at that point already well-known on the chamber music circuit, created the new concept of a chamber music company. Since 2022 ChamberMusicBox continues to perform concerts across London and the rest of the UK, both in their own series as well as by invitation for some of the country’s leading chamber music promoters. Recent appearances include the 2023 Swaledale Festival, a tour of South West England for Concerts in the West, a recital at the London School of Economics as well their international debut in the prestigious Pharos Arts Foundation Series in Nicosia, Cyprus.
